The Office of County Treasurer was established by State Law to collect and disburse taxes, 
	manage bond proceeds and debt service requirements, invest funds unnecessary for current 
	expenses, receive funds from other County departments, and file reports and summaries for 
	various government agencies.
	MISSION
	The mission of the Pickens County Treasurer's Office is to strive to offer prompt and 
	courteous service to the citizens of Pickens County. This office collects vehicle tax payments 
	year round and all current property taxes from October 1 to March 16 of each year.

	Q: Where is the Treasurer's Office located?
	A: We are at 222 McDaniel Ave. in Pickens. We are behind the County Health Dept. right off 
	of Hwy. 178
	Q: What are your hours?
	A: We are open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
	Q: I have not received my decal for my tag. What do I do?
	A: If you have paid your property taxes and it has been over ten days you need to carry your 
	paid receipt to any local DMV to obtain another decal.
	Q: I sold my vehicle. Do I need to pay my taxes?
	A: If you have purchased the vehicle through a dealer within the last year you will owe for the 
	time you kept the tag. If the bill is a regular renewal you need to contact the Auditor's Office 
	so they can take the bill off.
	Q: Where can I pay my taxes?
	A: You can come in to the Treasurer's Office and pay with cash, check, or money order. You 
	can also mail in tax payments to 222 McDaniel Ave. Pickens SC 29671. We will mail you 
	back a receipt.
	If you have an escrow account please check with your mortgage co. to see if they are going 
	to pay your property taxes. We will send you a bill around the first of October each year. You 
	should make a copy of this and send it to your mortgage co. If they are going to pay, do not 
	send in a payment. You can look on the website to see when they pay your taxes. Most 
	mortgage companies do not send in payment until the end of December. They have until Jan. 
	15 to get your taxes paid. We are required to go by the US postmark so make sure you have 
	your payments postmarked before the due date.
